Esoteric & Medical Astrology

A course integrating astrology with spirituality, astronomy, homoeopathy & allied therapies herbalism, essences, crystals, shamanic journeys, meditation), standard & esoteric anatomy and pathology. Timetable The course lasts two years with 10 classes per year and involves two days (Thursday & Friday) per month of the course. The teaching day is 11-5.30pm. Both years’ classes are held on the same days in different rooms. A new intake of students is begun each September.

Teaching Seminars consist of lectures, clinical case studies, practical application of healing techniques and meditation, using both intellectual and intuitive skills. Use of astrological software is a key part of the training, although not mandatory such software may be purchased during the course. Scale models are used for explaining relevant astronomy, including a planetarium, orrery and armillary sphere. Students are encouraged to present case studies, which will be appraised by the course tutors. Students study their own charts, as well as hands-on analysis of patient charts. Packs of printed charts are provided, so no initial software is required. There is scope for producing novel astronomical / astrological vibrational remedies during the course, as well as taking part in the homoeopathic proving of new remedies. The basics of homoeopathy, Chinese medicine, anthroposophical medicine, standard allopathic medicine and esoteric sciences are covered during the classes. Hence, although prior knowledge of such subjects is useful, it is not required for entering the course programme.

Cost The total cost is £950 per year, including note materials except software, CDs’ of recorded lectures, published books and remedies. This may be paid in full, bank transfer, by cheque instalments or standing order mandate. Payment options are sent to enrolled students, and payment may be started from the first class session.

Examination and certification Continuous assessment includes case analysis and homework, and there is a final exam to complete, leading to a diploma in medical astrology (D.Astromed). However, there is overall a relaxed manner of teaching and assessment. Much of the course involved self-development through studying one’s own chart, and thus assessment is inherently also self-reflective.

Enrolment criteria A basic understanding of the principles of astrology, anatomy, physiology and pathology is recommended. In addition to this, a familiarity with concepts such as the chakra system and subtle bodies (physical, etheric, astral, mental and spiritual) would be useful. You do not need in-depth knowledge in these areas but ideally to be familiar with the terms and concepts. Although the content of the course is quite academic, we take students through the concepts from basic starting principles. Anyone who would like to strengthen their knowledge of astrological basics before commencing the course can apply to do an introductory weekend or evening-based course, details of which are available on request. This introductory course teacher will be Nick Hughes to whom applications may be sent separately.
