Planets in Medical Astrology: Venus

Venus governs the principles of receptivity, harmony, relationship and equilibrium. This includes those physiological functions that require something to receive another substance or be the receptacle for an action. This is also connected to secretory functions. Specific systems connected to Venus are:

  1. Kidney system. The filtration of blood to form urine at the glomeruli, and the reception of urine by the bladder.

  2. The menstrual cycle and female genital system, especially related to sexuality, libido, fertility and the 3rd week of the menstrual cycle (when the astral body must permeate and transform the etheric body of the uterine endometrial blood lining). Consider Moon and Venus patterns.

Problems that could arise include:

Disorders of homoeostasis

The cells and tissues receiving hormonal signals are lacking in tone and function. Specific hormonal problems are:

  1. Diabetes has traditionally been linked to Venus problems, consider Jupiter-Venus or Uranus-Venus patterns here (Uranus relates to abuse of power).

  2. The adrenal glands are also related to Mars. There is relatively greater Venus effect for adrenal cortex function (corticosteroids with immune and metabolic functions, mineralocorticoids with mineral balance and kidney functions and androgens with sexual functions), whereas the adrenal medulla function (adrenaline) relates relatively more to Mars.

  3. The function of sex hormones, i.e. testosterone and oestrogen/progesterone. For the male hormone also consider Mars-Venus patterns. For the female hormones consider Moon-Venus patterns. Where there is poor activity of the gonadal hormones (such as infertility with low levels of the blood hormone, testosterone or oestrogen receptor insensitivity, gonad deficiency or atrophy) then consider negative aspects between the two planets.

Disorders of the kidneys

  1. Disorders affecting the glomeruli, with glomerulonephritis. This often begins during childhood and relate also to throat chakra obstruction, the sequelae of laryngitis with streptococcus, autoimmune attack of the basement membrane at the kidney glomeruli. Consider afflictions with Taurus, Mercury and Venus patterns where the history includes prior throat inflammation.

  2. Stone formation, renal calculi. Consider Saturn-Venus patterns.

  3. Tubular reabsorption problems, consider Mercury-Venus patterns.

  4. Urinary obstruction problems, such as prostate hypertrophy, tumours, consider Saturn-Venus patterns.

  5. Renal failure, consider Neptune-Venus patterns. Neptune is also relevant to the subsequent dialysis treatments.

  6. Kidney infections such as pyelonephritis. Consider Pluto/Mars patterns with Venus.

Retrograde Venus

There is a tendency to activate genetic diseases from the ancestors during this phase, as the kidney chi stores inherited jing. Although illness may appear refractory and difficult to clear (as ultimately it also requires use of remedies to clear the inherited factors), it is in the long-term necessary for cure.

Childhood weakness in the kidneys may also re-appear during retrograde, with any suppressed ear infections for example.

Some natives will have a particular afflicted retrograde Venus when there was misuse of genetic research in past lives, causing the person to suffer some inherited genetic disease in the current life. nonetheless, it is during the retrograde phase that this causation may be allowed to come to consciousness and become more effectively cleared.

Another cause for a retrograde Venus leading to persistent kidney/reproductive system weakness is over-indulgence of unregulated sex during past lives. This excess led to astral and etheric sexually transmitted diseases, that lead to end-organ damage in the future life. This may be indicated by children with frequent or chronic genital problems (without necessarily any evidence of abuse in this lifetime), such as boys with balanitis (inflamed glans of penis), girls with leurorrhea (vaginal discharge), or either gender with pelvi-ureteric junction problems (strictures or regurgitation from incompetent valves, both leading to early onset kidney failure).

It is also more likely that the native is born into a family where there are subliminal sexual politics from their relationships in past lives. For example, the native may actually have been the spouse or sexual partner of one of their parents in a former life, and this causes confusion in their roles in the current life. Indeed, one example was of a girl with persistent vaginal discharge and itching, who had been the sexual partner of her father in a former life, and had been reacting with jealous possessiveness when her father left the family for another woman other than the mother/his wife. A triangle of females was created, i.e. the new female partner, the girl, and the girl's mother.

Consider use of deep-acting vibrational (e.g. homoeopathic) genetic remedies during this time, such as DNA, or remedies made from specific genes.
