Pluto's focus is much more on the collective than on the individual. Most disorders of Pluto are in many ways due to the interaction the individual has with the collective. This could be related to group karma or through tapping into the collective subconscious or shadow and being overwhelmed by it. Plutonian illnesses bring the individual into the underworld and seek to destroy that which is preventing a more inclusive and collective consciousness from unfolding. This is usually linked to the death of the attachment to the lower self. If Pluto is involved in a disease process then the effects are likely to be dramatic and often irreversible. Whether the patient lives or dies, he or she will never be the same again.

At a physical level Pluto goes deep into atomic and subatomic levels, where the truth is even veiled from the most powerful microscope.  
Pluto governs all processes that have become concentrated and are ready to explode or release in a cathartic destructive manner. There are therefore two aspects to Pluto:
  1. Concentration, concealment, repeated suppression and burial of patterns. This is often related to repeated drug/surgical or allopathic treatments, vaccinations, and also deep emotional/mental denial. Patterns may derive from childhood.
  2. Explosive release of the patterns, perhaps during a transiting Pluto or Mars. The release is hot, fiery and associated with destruction of the underlying tissue. The aim f the underlying vital energy is to prevent repetition of the pattern or ongoing suppression. Hence the release attempts to be irreversible and as complete as possible. Therefore in the long-term it is better to flow as gracefully as possible with the detoxification symptoms, rather than attempting further suppression - painful though this may appear at the time.
Particular systems involving Pluto patterns include:

Immune system

  1. Severe or recurrent infections also involving immunosuppression where the tissues become dusky, necrotic or gangrenous during the infection, such as anthrax, septic ulceration, organ failure during infection. Also infections with severe complications, such as paralysis during botulinism, tetanus, shock during sepsis.
  2. Severe inflammation in tissues or organs with complications of organ failure. Examples include toxic megacolon during a severe crisis of ulcerative colitis, or bacterial endocarditis with vegetative emboli causing strokes.
  3. Allopathic treatment that has caused collapse of the immune system, such as high-dose chemotherapy and radiotherapy during cancer treatment, bone marrow or organ transplantation.

Childbirth

Violent childbirth often involves Pluto. This includes severe fetal distress, pre-eclampsia with maternal fits and hypertension, post-natal psychosis, toxic shock syndrome, respiratory distress syndrome in the baby, threatened or actual miscarriage. Consider Moon-Pluto patterns, and Pluto at the Ascendant.

Conception and procreation

Where this involves artificial methods with control of the process consider Pluto, Moon and Venus patterns. This includes in-vitro fertilisation, manipulation of the sperm, assisted implantation, prenatal gene therapy, cloning methods. Also the subsequent high level of investigations during pregnancy such as amniocentesis, fetal/embryo biopsy.

Stem cell and germ cell research

This often involves use of surplus ova, follicles (obtained from IVF), embryo tissue from aborted fetuses, and umbilical cord samples after birth. Also consider the Moon.

Organ theft and black-market transplants

Organs and tissues are often sold in the black-market, particularly kidneys, ovaries and egg cells. Consider Venus (especially in relation to the reproductive system) along with Moon and Pluto.

Crisis points of growth, development and life

Whenever there is cathartic and large-scale transformation during important stages of life, then Pluto is often involved. This includes birth, puberty, coming of age issues, mid-life crisis, death. This may involve violent diseases erupting at these times, near-death experiences during life, chronic fatigue or severe depression.

Excretory processes

Whenever there is violent eruption or release of bowel contents (e.g. spluttering diarrhoea, severe colitis, bleeding colitis, severe gastroenteritis), or skin toxicity being released (e.g. painful pustular eruptions such as pemphigoid) then consider the influence of Pluto.

Retrograde Pluto

There may especially be buried and painful soul parts within the underworld and subconscious realm that persistently cause disease in the third dimension. Such soul parts usually need to be shamanically raised into the light and integrated back into the energy field. The native may also have caused the entrapment of other soul/soul parts into the underworld, and thereby suffer the karmic responsibility for this as well. Such karmic ties may sometimes be felt within the abdominal centres.
